LAWMAN™ 74 Cloud Map | Zoom to XY & RapidSOS Location Query
The LAWMAN™ 74 Cloud Map provides public safety personnel with quick access to mapping, GIS, CAD, and 911 location information from within a single mapping environment. In this tutorial, we demonstrate two location tools available within 74 Cloud Map: Zoom to XY and the RapidSOS location query.
These tools give dispatchers and other authorized public safety personnel additional ways to locate an emergency call or incident using coordinate and location information available from their 911 systems.
Using Zoom to XY with 911 Coordinates
The Zoom to XY feature allows a user to quickly map a specific latitude and longitude. Coordinates obtained from 911 equipment, including systems such as Solacom, can be entered directly into LAWMAN™ 74 Cloud Map.
Once the coordinates are entered, 74 Cloud Map immediately moves to the specified location. This allows the dispatcher to visualize the coordinates using the agency’s available GIS and mapping information and compare the location with nearby streets, addresses, parcels, landmarks, and other available map layers.
Zoom to XY can be particularly useful when latitude and longitude coordinates are available from a 911 call or another location source and the dispatcher wants to quickly view that position within the LAWMAN mapping environment.
Querying RapidSOS from 74 Cloud Map
LAWMAN™ 74 Cloud Map also provides the ability to query RapidSOS for enhanced emergency location information. This allows authorized users to access available RapidSOS location data directly from within the mapping product.
The RapidSOS query provides another source of location information that can assist dispatchers when determining or confirming the location associated with an emergency call. The resulting location information can then be viewed in the same mapping environment used for other LAWMAN CAD, GIS, and 911 information.
Bringing 911 Location Information into One Map
By combining 911 GIS, coordinate-based mapping, RapidSOS integration, and information from 911 systems such as Solacom 911, LAWMAN™ 74 Cloud Map helps personnel work with multiple sources of location information without having to manually transfer that information into a separate mapping application.
Whether coordinates are received directly from 911 equipment or location information is obtained through RapidSOS, the goal is the same: provide dispatchers with fast access to useful location information and allow them to see that information in the context of their agency’s public safety map.
